Un lucky i got an fracture in my left hand so it’s no more skiing for me while the lifts are operating. I hope im able to do some hiking later in may with one pole and someone to help me with the skinns! I should be good again in the end of may so the summer skiing and fishing season wil go down as usual!

It is even possible to get some good skiing outside the slopes again so the last week i have been changing between park shred and freeride skiing. This morning we woke up to bluebird and no wind so we headed up to shoot some pictures for the  House of Hygge winter catalouge 2013.

When i cheked the weather forecast for the next week is looks like snow almost everyday the next week so i decided to get as much as possible out of this day. I took some phone calls and one h later me and Anne Marit was on our way up to Hemsedals fjellet. We had a super nice short hike up there in the evening and at the same time as we got our gear ready for the way back home the sun went down behind the mountains. Really nice snow half way down in the forest so right now i think the touring season wil be really good! Even mad a short movie from our hike!

So what happend?

Erik our redneck friend picked us up with his pickup at the train station and showed us how the life up north is. We headed straight to the workshop where he had to weld the steering bar back to his snowmobile before we could head up to the mountains.

When we woke up wednesday morning it was snowstorm outside the window, but we got a super nice shred day with good and dry snow blowing arround us. Erik took us around the arrea to show us all the places with good skiing before we ended the day with some northern beer and some food at the local bar.

Thursday morning it was super nice weather outside beside the winds but that didnt stop us. We headed out together wit Erik,Marta and local hero and Shief at Gammelgården Per. It was changing between sun and snow-storm but we got to ski the goodies and got first tracks on all the good spots arround the lift system. Everytime the skipatroul opened a new arrea we was there first and got some good film and photos.

Friday was a down day so we headed down to the mining city Kiruna and then futher down to Gällivare where Erik and Marta has grown up beside Björkliden. We came down there to some local easter ski/snowboard competition and joined the final party before we headed back to Björkliden on saturday morning. Some decided to sleep the rest of the day but i was so restless that i headed out skiing alone for 2h. It was super fun just to shred arround on my own and do some minigolf skiing arround the skiing arrea.

On sunday we woke up to bluebird and no winds so we headed up to Riksgränsen 30km direction norway. Gaute and Marta was out snowboarding so Asbjørn,Erik an i was skiing arround the arrea who was super playfull. Erik had to go back to work so i drove him down to Björkliden before i gathered with Asbjørn again and got to ski some more h before we went back home.

Monday was the big day! Again bluebird and no winds. We left Björkliden 8.30 together with a friend of Erik and headed in to the mountain on snowmobiles. First run of the day was Kopparåsen a long super sweet crusing run down to the road where we had placed two cars the night before. We was back in Björkliden 10.00 Erik,Emil and Richard headed back to the run to pick up the snowmobiles while Asbjørn and i drow to Abisko so we got more fuel for the machines. Back in town we drowe back in to the mountains and was out there skiing minigolf on a cool face all day and got many good shots on film. We was back home 17.30 and ended the day with a small afterski.

Tuesday was another down day with bad vision so we stayed back home and fixed some gear up in the skishop like new soles for Erik and mine skiing boots before we took some beers. Wednesday morning was it time to leave this beautifull place!

We had a good week up in Björkliden the people and nature was super nice and we will be back for new adventures!!!

I wil dropp a movie from our trip as soon as i have time to edit!!

After the Slopestyle practis was done i headed over to the mogul course to se the two local Hemsedal girls Vilde and Thea practise before the Scandinavian and european cup in moguls. Soon dinner before we head up to the hill again for a opening cermony and the the program for today is done and we are ready for qualifyers tomorrow.

Two weeks ago i was in Hafjell and judged the Norwegian open competition in Slopestyle. It was fun to be out there and even to shred the slopestyle course before the comp. It was even my last test before i head over to Finland later today to judge the first FIS World Cup in slopestyle. Kind of nervous about it since everything feels way biger,but i gues it is just to keep it down and do the same stuff as usual.

I was also suposed to be in the powder capital Sogndal this week to ski the first competition in this year’s Norwegian freeride cup,but it was hard to find a flight from Sogndal to Oslo who matched with my finland flight so i had to dro that trip. Un lucky for all the other riders thay had to cancel the competition due to big avalanche danger in norway now,but i gues they got to ski loads of powder in the forest instead!

After Finland i wil pack my car and head out on a powder trip so watch out for powder updates soon! Mean while you can chek back and i wil try to post some updates everyday now from the judge both in Finland. It is a prety big competition who wil be aired live at Tv with many of the best riders in the world!

This week it is World cup in skiflying in Vikersund and Anders Backe kicked it of yesterday with a world record atempt yesterday. He set the Guines world reckord in skiing bacwards and ended up with 128,7 km/h on his second try last night!

To day the first jumps are going down and it would be cool if Tom Hilde or some of the others Norwegians could push the limits this weekend and go all the way to the top og the podium! It would be a huge bonus if thye even broke the world record on 246,5m from last year!

As i wrote in Hafjel i had goten an idea that i wana do and on my ride down to Oslo i got more inpiration to my plan. Dont think it wil go down this winter since it need to be planed wel but i thinking alot about it and it starts to look cool in mye head so keep folowing for more news on that… I dont even know if i can manage to wait until next winter so maybe i start on the projeckt this winter and finsih it next winter…

Today i headed over to Hafjell to judge the Norwegian Open slopestyle competition this weekend. It’s the last test before i head over to Finland 22 february for the FIS World cup in slopestyle as judg there. On the way i got an pretty cool idea that i will share with you later but i can tell it is about skiing and filming! Might be some cool powder shred out there soon….

Last weekend the snow arrived for shure. We got 60cm fresh pow from Thursday to late saturday.  Friday morning we was ready in the lift 20 min before it started that morning. We where not alone but it was more than enough snow for everyone. The two first runns we skied pow in the slopes before we headed out in the trees. It was a long but insane cool day hanging out with good friends in deep pow. Haven’t had that many face shots in norway in one day before. The snow was super dry and my face was mostly covered in snow that day. The rest of the weekend was pretty much the same. Much snow and big smiles!

On monday we went for a lithle hike together woth our neighbour Kari and our Friend Lars Tore who came all the way from powder hole number one Sogndal. It was cold but nice out there and good to head out of the lift arrea and be just all alone in the mountain. Another nice day where we learned that it is’nt always as good as it looks. LT and me descided to try an alternat route down but that wasnt any good plan… Rocks and trees that was more narrov than in the jungle wasnt any good combination so we had to traverse back to the normal palce to ski down.

I have to be bether to bring my NX 200 out so i can get some killer photos for you but mr Iphone have been the winner the last week.

After a «dry» season start we finaly got a good snowfall last week! The west coast has drowned in powder this winter while Hemsedal has had one of the worst beginings of the season ever.

Saturday i helped out with a park contest for kids so i didnt get to much time to ski my self,but i got some good runs in the end of the day.

Sunday we headed out a good crew to get some photos and shred done. The crew was former Freeride world tour snowboarder David Underland, his wife Camilla, Freestyle skier Anders Backe, photographer Kalle Hägglund and me. We shreded arround the whole mountain to get the best snow and photos. On the best places it was knee deep. The whole day was filled with big smiles,much yelling and powder.

Kalle got alot of good shots that day so check out some of the B-Shots that is out now.

A nice pillow line i got to ski!

Today tuseday David Underland, Kalle Hägglund, Are Tallaksrud and i went out on a photo/film adventure. We started out on a wel known spot up here right behind the Tinden lift and maybe we used to much time there to reach the light on our next spot who was «gammern». This face was used as final wenue in the freeride comp some years ago. While David and i hiked up there the photo and film crew (Kalle and Are) Had a nice lunch in the sun. On our way up we checked the snowpack and found a layer futher down who was a bit icy so we descided to not go for the top in case of an awalanche. We got to traverse in to the face and got a small cliff before we could sign the face with big powder turns. On the hike back we even found a nice wind lipp filled with powder so we got some nice shots there as well! A nice but cold morning in the mountains.

Oh yea we got a bit of an adventure. Since all the snow have arrived in the west coast you have to know the arrea here to find som god conditions outside the slopes now. I woke up to bluebird an -2 degrees this morning but 15 min before i was done at work it started to blow winds up to 20 m/s and came in some big clouds filled with snow. I meet up with the Beitostølen crew and my friend Øyvind Skumlien arrived as well. Up in the mountains we couldnt se much and the wind made the whole adventure really hard,but after some walking, looking,thinking skiing we got out there. We could barely se 50m in the worst parts of totaly whiteout. Since i had been there be fore we managed to get out there and could start the fun part. On top it was almost no snow many rocks and really bad vision,but after some turns we found the secret forest and there it was snow as well. The main problem now was that it started to get dark so we needed to speed up and hit the right line to get all the way down and out to of the forest. Some one fastened in some holes and missed the line so it got dark before we was home safe, but with an iphone and some hard work in the dark we found or way out and was really happy for the god turns we got! Not steep and deep as on the west coast but it was nice! A happy crew ended the day with a pizza party at the local resturant!
